Times goes by, 1 year has passed, a moment to say goodbye to be called as "student"

All the great time, being a student: studying, attending class, doing assignments, exam, group discussion, hangong out till morning,…..

All the fun and miserabledays will always be in our memories

Lifes will go on, tomorrow will be a new day, new world, new challenge …. but friendships are forever

This is the day of our happiness, all the sorrowful has passed, new day has come

Congratulations, Class of 2008, Communication Engineering/Communication Software and Network, Master of Science Program, NTU!

Yay… exam has finished…. study is over ^_^

Holiday has just started…. till I found jobs…

Fortunately, i got invitation from PMO (prime minister office) to join free makansutra’s tour worth of 100 S$… Mostly the trip is about exploring the traditional singaporean food… Along the way, the tour guide gave us some explanation on how the traditional food made and how it was invented. 

First they brought us for breakfast to ayer rajah hawker center to eat  singaporean fried rice, roti john, and teh tarik. First there are some demos on how to make teh tarik, some of us try it, quite funny, it’s not easy to make it.  The fried rice is so red, I found it same as Indian fried rice which is sold at canteen 2, prefer nasi goreng tek-tek near my home, hehehe….. Roti john is quite nice, but it still ordinary roti john (roti john = bread which is fill in with omelette+meat)

Next place is indian restaurant at upper bukit timah road, their speciality is fish head curry… From the first step I got in to the restaurant, all are curry’s smell…We ate on banana leaf as the plate… quite unique. One big bowl are for 4 people, I sat with other 2 girls and 1 guy from PMO. The tour guide praise our table coz we can finish the fish till left the bone… Actually, the one who ate most is Jeremy, the guy from PMO, and we only staring at him and support him to finish it… For sure, we really can’t enjoy the food that much… Just an ordinary taste!

From there we continue to have our snack… char kwey teow and rojak at tiong bahru hawker center. For me… this two foods are not tasty at all…. Better Indonesian taste!

The last place to visit is dessert "island creamery". A place where sell ice cream with unique sinagpore taste… This is the best food of all. There are many uniques taste such as pulut hitam, cendol, tiger beer, lemon cheese cake, teh tarik, etc…

And… we also take the group picture!

Overall, the traditional singaporean foods is mix with malay, indian, and chinese taste. Can say it has mixed together and create a new recipee by "peranakan" means the descendant of the straight people from china which married with local malay, that’s why the food kind of "descendant" taste

Waaaahhhh….

I have finished the final paper which I struggled for this last few months and passed the presentation…

Finally, I didn’t need to write any progress report again! Means I already got my "half" freedom… More relax during week end….

But.. I still need to prepare for exam next month… huaaa….. feel so scared!

Counting down for graduation…

Hmmm… It’s such a long time I didn’t write, just lazy… also busy…

Anyway, I have passed the first semester, the result is not bad, just beyond my imagination… =)

Oh ya, today I drop by to see jobs fair at suntec.. Not really interesting, I mean for the jobs. I’m also not prepared for anything, even hasn’t updated my CV. I’m still lazy to think about jobs.. still have another 4 months before graduated, don’t think there are any companies will wait for me till graduated.

Finally me and some friends end up by hunting souvenirs that is given by the company in the exhibition for promotion. We just looking around to each company to see what kind of souvenirs they will give. Finally, end up with goodie bags, pen (many kinds), notes, small calender (finally I got singapore’s calender to found the public holiday, hehehe), post it notes, mouse pad, memo holder/keyboard duster/screen cleaner, meter tools with screw. Not bad… =)

End of January will have another jobs fair at campus, this time I thought I need to prepare my CV, in other hand the company is better than today’s jobs fair. And the most important, will collect another souvenirs, hahaha

Ok, enough for today… need to go back to my book… Still don’t understand the cryptography metode for authorization… T_T

Anybody can help me with hash code, HMAC, DES, AES, X.509, RSA, etc… ? Hate it! But must write something for my final paper

Adios….

Today I broke my foot finger nail coz of my stupidity. It happens in the library before class, I step on the stair carelessly that makes me hit my foot to the stair…. Ouch! I just feel a little hurt and continue to go to the class in a hurry coz I am late…

On the way I found it’s bleeding, but I don’t realize that I broke the nail. Finally I arrive at the class when the prof has already started the lesson. Directly I put my notes and listen to his lesson, I just ignore my foot even it’s a little hurt coz I find it already stops bleeding. During the "break" time, I check it to clean up the blood and I find that it is broken =(

Hiks…. I lost half of the nail somewhere….

Now one of my foot finger only have a half nail…. Must wait for a few month to get it recover

Lesson for today: Better come to the class earlier to avoid this happen again, Irene…. so stupid!

Happy Birthday Joice!

We prepare a little surprise for Joice…. We buy cake and celebrate it after class on friday. Hope she would not miss her family so much, coz it’s her first b’day party far from her family. Hope we can be your family here…. ^_^

The party is not over… We continue to go to clark quay. Try to find a good cafe to drink and listen to the music. Some cafe are so full, even we can’t get any place. Arun, Steven, and Yihui are interested on "one nite stand" cafe. The music is ok…. but from the name…. hehehe…. Finally we choose a latin cafe near the river. Buy some drink and special latin food, so nice! There is a drink called "singapore sling" which is a trade mark of singapore bar. Steven tried it, can you see the different at his face. Guess… is he drunk?

Then we continue chat and sing, sit at the top of the wall of the bridge, feel the soul of the nite… Arun start to sing and indian song, kind of rap one. Steven, Yihui, and Qijun wanna sing "ching fei te yi" but forget the lyrics… Syarfa is too shy to sing… So we just recall our memory about a good song and try to sing together. Next time we should go to karaoke after exam guys…. You have a nice voice!

Times goes by…. it’s really late for us. Times to go back. I’m afraid cannot wake up, coz I have appointment with one of the professor in the morning to discuss about my ISM topic. So tired…. But really nice day! It’s almost 4 AM when I went to bed…. Nite all….. Have a sweet dream =)

It’s a whole day trip. From morning till night! Only me and modesta, she is the photographer and i’m the model, hehehe…

In the morning we went to cathedral of the good shepherd, i like the choir, it’s so beautiful. Two thumbs up for sir Peter Law!

Modesta wants to try the new camera, such a big professional one. First, find a tripod, looking around at Funan, finally end up at Sony Paragon ^_^

Then we wathed movie, "no reservation" by catherine zeta jones, quite nice. At least I can relax after the whole weeks lessons and quiz.

Our main destination is clark quay which stands along the singapore river, to see the lantern festival. Unfortunately it’s raining, so we cannot explore the whole quay. Modesta tried her new camera, she tried some shoot till got the best result, that’s what we called "learning by doing", hehehe…. The lantern festival is so beautiful, it’s shining at night, with the board across, cafe along the river, and people’s drink or just enjoy the view. We take some shoot at beautiful corner, I haven’t had chance to upload to this blogs coz it still at the camera.

There was a mexican festival also, which many mexican dancer dance at the stage, finally we spent time to watch while trying to get the best shoot of the dancer. It’s very unique, with high tempo music, the sound of the shoes’ step, and the traditional mexican dress.

Go home so late, almost 11.30 PM, so tired…. can’t wait till next week to go home…. my Home Sweet Home

Hmmm…. today i’m visiting the new nephew. First, shopping with modesta to find a gift for baby. Looking around at Takashimaya’s baby fair. Lots of choices, lots of people, so crowded! Considering that he is the second child of my cousin, so I decided to buy something useful. Finally I bought a bottle sterilizer… directly pay and wrap it! Then I wanted to buy some biscuits for my sister, Ricki will back to Indo tomorrow, I asked him to pass it to my sister. But it is sold out at watson’s Taka, watson’s Wisma Atria, and cold storage. As modesta’s suggestion, I drop by at Toa Payoh on my way to Bishan to buy it at NTUC. Then I continue to Bishan, arrive there, my cousin suggest me to continue using bus no 54 but he didn’t tell me where to stop. I’m checking on my little "dictionary" of bus routes and found that there were 2 bus stop at bishan street 13 and I didn’t know which bus stop I should get off. Ask the bus driver that I want to go to xxx block and the driver told me where to stop. Luckyly I didn’t get lost, hehehe….

Getting there makes me a little confuse, many blocks and I just turning around, finally I found it. Next problem is I didn’t know where is the lift to get upstairs. Luckyly I met Ricki downstair, so he help me to go up and see the baby. Then went out with Ricki, Tera, and his mom to Junction Mall, which is beside Bishan MRT. If I knew, I would buy the biscuits there, oh… so stupid! After dinner I went back to the apartment to talk with them and drop by to see my cousin. The baby is so cute and small =). His name is Timothy. His mom ask me to carry him but I reject it, I’m afraid I will drop him coz he is still so weak. Wanna play with his sister, Camelyn. But today, Camelyn is unfriendly, crying all day, maybe she just realizes there is a new "comer" in the family whom will share all the mom’s and dad’s love with her.

Times to go home, it’s 9 PM. My cousin send me back with his car, it’s quite fast, only 30 minutes. If I went back by myself by MRT and continue by bus, maybe it will takes 1 hour even more. He got in from the highway which was not the route of bus that I used to take, so when he asked me the way inside the NTU complex, I got a little confuse. I just know that it was the correct road, coz the name is nanyang crescent, but I didn’t recognize any building there. After checking the map and following my "feeling", we found the hall where I lived. Finally I  found that the building I saw when I first got in was the apartments for staff which I never passed before. A little ashame of myself, coz I don’t familiar with the way inside NTU. I think I should try to walk around of all NTU area to get familiar ^_^

One week has passed, I’m feel so terrible. When all the fun has stopped and the headache started. I would like to review my first weeks result:

1. Monday: Multimedia Networking

This course is about QoS, how to decide the best QoS; what kind of protocol should be used for different kind of data/video/voice, etc; delay; jitter; and the least but not the last is headache! All about theory and sometimes the professor makes me sleepy in the class. That’s 3 hours boring course.

2. Tuesday: Computer Network

The professor using chinese-english, from the first sentence he spoke, I know he came from China, and you know how to deal with terrible chinese-english… another headache! Anyway the lesson will talk about TCP/IP and friends, ATM network, and all the protocols…. Another 3 hours boring class.

3. Wednesday: Network Performance Analysis

All about math, especially probability, poisson, etc that implemented on queueing analysis. Forgot all the math, should recall my memory again. Anyway, the professor tech too fast, or maybe I’m too stupid to catch it. I think this course is more suitable to phd student, coz it’s only makes me more headache!

4. Thursday: Holiday ^_^

It should be Digital Communication System but it is canceled coz of Singapore National Day. So it’s time to have fun! Finally I went to Modesta’s apt and cook rawon (Indonesian style beef soup), but modesta bought the wrong meat, it should be beef, but she bougth pork. And she didn’t realize it till I show the label at the package. Finally we cook it, not so bad…. there’s no different taste between pork and beef, hehehe…

5. Friday: RF Engineering Techniques

Need to recall my memory again about transmission line, VSWR, and smith chart, so far I learn more by myself and doing some exercises

6. Saturday: monthly shopping

Go to IMM to buy body soap, shampoo, and another daily needs…

7. Sunday: church time

Went to church with Modesta. Then meet denny to go together to Funan, finally buy HP deskjet 2460, I choose the small and cheapest one. Lunch at Lucky Plaza, ayam penyet ria is ok…. Find a parfume for my sister and accompany modesta to buy shoes at OG chinatown. Cook dinner with modesta, even it’s a little terrible coz of "weird" ketchup made by singapore… When I went back, all my room are wet., I hate it! Need to clean it….

Tomorrow I will try my new printer….
